The building consists of the new departments for the School for Optoelectronics Research Centre and the School for Electronics and Computer Science, replacing a previous facility that was destroyed by a fire in 2005.
The practice has delivered a high quality scientific research establishment to attract the best international talent and industry funding. The design consists of dynamic forms and volumes that carefully frame the outside views.
The main entrance opens into a light and spacious glazed atrium with an attractive feature staircase which connects to a new external square providing south facing outdoor space.
